Principal tasks

1. Structure engineer will perform, generally theplan approval , activities check or execution of direct calculations relevant to the structures, materials and welding, deck equipments and machinery, hull fittings and equipment (anchors, chains, ropes, rudders), loading and unloading arrangements and containers for the carriage of dangerous goods in conformity to classification and statutory rules.

2. This position involves conventional engineering practices as well as the resolution of complex issues related to conflicting design requirements, material standards, and coordination of multi-disciplinary activities;

3. Plan Approval Engineer will closely work with technical sectors of RINA Head Office and with field surveyors and clients on specific projects.

Education and Professional Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture / Marine Engineering, or equivalent Diploma;

2. Pronounced technical understanding and familiarity with IACS Class Rules and International Conventions (SOLAS, MARPOL etc…);

3. Experience in ship equipment design and/or maintenance;

4. Shipyard or operational experience in an engineering function;

5. Previous professional experiences in Classification Societies would be a strong plus;

6. Familiar with FEM analysis would be a strong plus

7. At least 3 or 4 years professional experience in similar or related businesses.
